This is one of those books I could read again and again for the first time. Historical fiction meets science fiction and time travel, it is a classic written in 1979, taking place in 1976 California. Complicated plot lines and well-developed characters leave you wanting so much more. The main character, an African-American woman is transported through time to antebellum Maryland where she saves the life of a white child and the trouble begins. Amazing writing; classic literature.
