Small writing at its best. And by small, I mean both short (only 118 pages) and small which refers to the title; small things, gestures, kindnesses....can be something big. And important. I loved the setting of this book - a small Irish town in the mid-1980s, and the characters were charming and relatable. My only critique is that it ended rather abruptly! But --message taken. ‘Was there any point in being alive without helping one another?' sums it up. Beautiful story! It has been made into a movie starring Cillian Murphy and Matt Damon.
