From the author of She's Come Undone and I Know This Much is True, this is one of those books that is so well written, and the characters seem so real, that you can almost ignore the dark themes. I almost gave up at the first turning point, about 50 pages in. Trigger warnings everywhere! But unless you absolutely can’t stand it, my advice is to stick with it. What a deeply profound book. Disturbing, yes. But wowwwww. One of the best redemption tropes I’ve ever read. It will stick with me for a long time. - Libby H
When I first started reading this book I was horrified. I didn't like the premise or the main character. I stuck with it and was surprised how much the story made me think. I am not sure if I agree how anything in this book was handled. That being said, any book that makes me think about situations long after I have finished the book is one I will recommend. - Maureen Q
