Norwegian Wood

by Haruki Murakami

Murakami is master of the strange, but this is one of his most approachable and emotionally resonate books. We join main character Toru as he remembers his college days in Tokyo and the loss of his best friend. Murakami has drawn vivid characters, while deeply and honestly dealing with issues of mental health, grief and loss. It's the kind of book that makes you want to leave notes in the margins (but please not in a library copy 🙂) and pass it along to a friend.
