Have you ever read a book that you couldn't decide whether to rate a 1 or a 5? Try this one! I Who Have Never Known Men is one of the darkest, bleakest, most haunting dystopian fiction books I've ever read. Nothing happens, but yet everything happens. I want to know so much more. Incredibly well-crafted. I have a lot to say, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to give this a try. If you are hoping for something uplifting, NOPE, don't read this. Also, don't judge a book by its cover. This looks whimsical to me, but it is anything but. This book is all about strong female characters in a society of only women, but yet...why? I have a feeling this will stick with me for a long time. Originally published in 1995 in French, I went into it blind - solely based on a recommendation. Wow. Unique doesn't begin to describe it.
