by J.D. Vance
There isn't a whole lot of nonfiction that I thoroughly enjoy, but when I find one like this I devour it. I read it long before I knew who the author was.... it was recommended, so I gave it a try. It is a deeply moving biography/memoir -- this book follows one family in Appalachia trying to find a better life in post-WWII times. It is a family saga with wonderfully written personal anecdotes that makes this memoir read like a novel to entertain.
