Non-fiction at it's best! Based on first-hand interviews and personal diaries from the journey, this book was first published in 1959. It is written like a thriller. This non-fiction account of the brave troupe of Shackleton's explorers of Antarctica was spellbinding. TRUE adventure stories are the best adventure stories. I had all the feels while reading this, including anxiety, as if I were there along on the journey, exhalation when things go right, and profound sadness and despair when they don't. Many a good discussion has been had after reading this one!
