Adult Services and Communications Assistant

Under the supervision of the Adult Services Manager and Communications Manager, the Adult Services and Communications Assistant will split their time between supporting the Library’s marketing and communications initiatives and assisting with adult programming and collection maintenance.

We are seeking a creative, innovative, and energetic individual to join our team and assist in our Adult Services and Communications departments.

 

Adult Services Assistant Duties


•    Assist with planning and execution of programs
•    May plan and run programs independently as assigned
•    Assist with weeding and discarding needs of the adult collection
•    Aid in the planning of the Summer Reading Program
•    Review assigned portions of the library collection for retention or disposal
•    Assist with creating displays
•    Assists with inventory of the library collection

Communications Assistant Duties


•    Design and prepare digital graphics for Library programs, services, and events.
•    Draft and schedule posts for the Library’s social media accounts 
•    Assist in creating and distributing email newsletters and e-blasts.
•    Support updates to the Library’s website and online event calendar.
•    Take and edit photographs at Library programs as needed.
•    Assist with basic signage and in-house promotional materials.
•    Ensure all content aligns with Library branding and style guidelines.
•    Collaborate with staff to promote programs and services.

Acting as a Person in Charge will also be required.

 

Qualifications and Skills


•    High school diploma or equivalent required
•    Coursework or prior experience in library science, marketing, graphic design, or related field preferred

Hours and Compensation:


Hours: 20-24 hours per week. Flexible schedule, weekend and evening hours required
Salary: $19-$24 starting hourly rate depending on experience
