DESCRIPTION:In this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn to paint trad
 itional Islamic geometric patterns on 8 x 10-inch framed glass. Designed f
 or beginners, this hands-on class introduces the fundamentals of the direc
 t method of glass painting through step-by-step guidance. No artistic expe
 rience is necessary!In addition to the workshop, participants will also ha
 ve the opportunity to view a selection of instructor Samra Bashir's o
 riginal paintings, offering inspiration and insight into how simple design
 s can evolve into intricate, timeless patterns. Samra will give a brief p
 resentation introducing Islamic art, focusing on the history and cultural 
 significance of geometric patterns. She will share how these designs are u
 sed in architecture and decorative arts, and talk about her creative proce
 ss.
